troupe notes from the week
including an article I read in vogue: "if you have the instinct to wear something, wear it"
hi everyone!
I was away last week, tagged along my husband’s work trip to cabo. It was really nice to move slow for a change, watch shows on my phone, read, spend time with my husband, and eat great food. A week of spicy margaritas and tacos.
I watched the whole ‘In Vogue: the 90s’ on Disney+. SO GOOD. I wish there was more episodes! I think you all would love it
also watched and finished ‘Nobody Wants This’ on netflix. Fantastic. ( I watched alot of tv on my phone)
I recently read an inspiring article in Vogue called Age on the Runway, and it made me feel so grateful for what I do. The piece focused on women over 40 (which, coincidentally, is most of my client demographic), and how our relationship with our wardrobe evolves as we age. We're living in a world where the mantra is "there are no rules"—and I’m all for that. But let’s be real: it’s easier said than done.
No one wants to dress like their teenage daughter or rock the same look they did in their 20s. We want to look good, feel good, and embody our own version of “chic.” We want to feel desirable—but somehow, we’re uncomfortable using the word "sexy." Maybe it’s because for years, we associated sexy with a 20-year old version of ourselves in an uncomfortable bodycon mini dress, heels, and a freezing 2 a.m. taxi hunt outside a club desperately trying to find a taxi that would allow us to fit 5 girls into a 4 passenger car (or was that just me and my friends?). Back then, it was all about looking good on the outside, with little regard for how we felt on the inside.
Today, my version of sexy has evolved. It’s still about being desirable, but it’s about confidence and comfort. It’s about wearing something that feels authentically you—something that makes you stand tall, because you know you’ve got it. In my mind, it’s a woman in a pair of fabulous trousers and an elegant top (I just got it, I’m obsessed). But for you, it may look completely different. The point is: it’s your version, not anyone else’s.
Olivier Rousteing had a great quote in the article that stuck with me: "Sexy is not about age; it’s about attitude, confidence. It’s not a cliché." And he’s right. The cliché that "sexy is young" is what kills fashion and society’s perception of women.
Reading that made me proud to be a grown woman. I can’t wait to get back to work this week, helping my clients feel not just good about aging—but great about it. Dressing for yourself. Because, as Olivier says, “If you have the instinct to wear something, wear it.”
Style notes from the trip:
The vogue article inspired me to wear a scarf as a top that night on our trip. It was a million degrees out so the red rosetta getty vintage blazer I brought to wear was no es bueno, so scarf as a top it was. Something I would never have done before… but I had the instinct to wear it, so I put it on.

I didn’t buy one thing for the trip. Lots of outfit repeating and wearing old clothes in new ways. Like this button up as a sarong!
I always use this marni pouch I am holding for travelling. All of my important things go inside that I need, and then I just throw it into a beach bag from the hotel or something. It’s a few years old, but it’s a good piece to look out for. Mine can fit a pair of flip flops. A sunglass case. You want it to have space so it’s really functional. vacation hair…my hairdresser Raya sold me on this product called Easy Rider by Kevin Murphy and it’s amazing. Great for frizz or slicking back. But doesn’t make your hair gross and sticky the next day. I style my hair like this whenever I am lazy to do it properly: 1/3 up with a chic barrette, and then a low pony or braid. The barrette is key because gives a good shape to the top part of your hair/head.
and thank you to ubeauty for existing and saving my skin…my husband was shamelessly using my moisturizer all trip, it’s that good. I also got my custom emmerson jewels pinky signet ring this week…I’m in love. She was 10/10 to work with. The three initials are for my three kids.
I will send out another newsletter with some links later on this week!

I’m going to need to see the back of 1/3 up and low pony or braid in the back please….🙏
So jealous! Margaritas and spicy tacos sound perfect. And if only it were as easy as "Wear what you love!".
