10 things I have sold myself on recently
including some links you might have missed from the substack chat
I always get asked what my most recent purchases were or what I’m coveting. An occupational hazard is that I always end up selling myself on the pieces I link in substack (whether it be in the chat or in a newsletter).
Here’s what happens: you guys will message me saying you love something I linked, you ask me how I would style it, I give you all these great ideas, show you how it can be so versatile, the function it can play in your closet.
The next thing I know, I have made such a strong case for the purchase that I ultimately end up convincing myself I need it too. Not great for my wallet. Or my seemingly shrinking closet.
So on that note…here are some of the things I sold myself recently on:
this necklace. while it seems a bit overpriced for what it is, adding it to all my outfits I wear all the time makes them feel fresh and new. those are always such key pieces. Outfit multipliers!
(I linked it in the substack chat a few weeks ago when I was contemplating it…do not sleep on the substack chat!)
Just ordered these sneakers I linked recently. There are so many trends going on with sneakers that I was craving a good classic pair for all the baby walking that’s in my foreseeable future. I wanted a sneaker I will feel good in, but one that I won’t have to be precious with (love a dark sneaker for that). Especially when I am chasing my two boys all over the park on weekends once the weather gets better. And just as much as I love a white sneaker in the winter because it feels unexpected, I love a dark sneaker in the summer for the same reason :)
Finally bit the bullet on this striped shirt I linked in a substack in December. Picturing it with light blue wide leg denim (like these from the last newsletter) and these flats (which I think I might have sold myself on from the last newsletter too), these muted blue-ish lounge pants (which I think i need too), jean shorts and flats, flared trousers with a strappy sandal, linen pants, even just over a bathing suit for a cottage weekend. I’m waiting for it to arrive to decide if I want the matching shorts (ordered it to my sister in law in florida to avoid duties) - I want to see the material and how it fits first. Wearing it as a set is a bit limited, I think I would only wear it with black ballet flats for a balanced look. But it’s still a great look!!
